Bees' penchant

Researchers have found that current generations of bees in larval stages generally have a larger penchant for dwelling near dull-looking flowers and plant leaves than their parents and adult counterparts and that the reason for this change lies in the increasing use of pesticides on the vivid flowers that once lured pollinators.

(A) a larger penchant for dwelling near dull-looking flowers and plant leaves than their parents and adult counterparts

Is C incorrect because penchant cannot be 'large' ?
The GMAT is indeed adaptable. Whenever I answer RC, it proficiently 'adapts' itself to mark my 'right' answer 'wrong'.

Actually penchant means liking and we never say "larger liking",we always say "more liking"......therefore C is incorrect......
