The 23rd june 2010 version of the BTG Flashcard (pg 16/81)claims

Some test prep sources claim that when the entire sentence is underlined in the question, the answer has a
higher probability of being 'D' or 'E'.

since I read this on the BTG flashcards, I would like to ask, guys is this a myth or a fact?

Secondly are the SOURCES which claim this fact, genuine / fake / banned ??

Is it fair to have this information with us ?? should this information not be striken off ??
If its fair then should we not have all such information consolidated ??

I would like to work hard and fight fair,fight hard to get a good GMAT score.

It says higher probability, it doesnt say 100% of the time. You should make use of such tricks only when you are unable to pick the right answer and you are forced to guess the answer. Your first preference should be to spot errors in all options.

These statistics are based on OG questions and retired GMAT questions but it doesn't mean that D or E is the answer 100% of the time. When you are unable to make an educated guess and you have no clue about any of the options, only then you should make use of such tricks. If you feel D and E contain some errors, then you shouldn't choose D/E just because you read this rule somewhere.

I would like to hear this from the 'Eric' perhaps ,
that the source is retired GMAT questions rather than "Some test prep sources"
I would like to know what is in his opinion are the "Some test prep sources".

My dear friend final decision is yours, cards are not written in order to answer everyone's need, they are generic.
I am sure Eric is not going to say that you can blindly toss a coin and choose between D and E in such questions.
The intention of the cards is to say that if you are stuck and loosing time then make a wild guess if you have some inclination towards any choice then go ahead with it but if you are selecting a choice just by picking one of your five fingers then you can go for either an E or D.Tell me how is it going to impact you even if you will follow this approach.

Great discussion guys. Honestly, I can't remember where I found that source--but I do remember that someone ran some study on all Official Guide questions to produce this recommendation.

You're right, this is kind of a shady recommendation--but I decided to include it because it was a guideline that I personally followed in the rare situations where I had to blindly guess (couldn't even eliminate one choice).
