A. if there is a repudiation of a significant number of these loans, would be
--> in the IF construction : when there is present tense in the IF part then other part cant be WOULD
you may check the mgmat guide for this issue

B. if a significant number of these loans will be repudiated, is
--> IF correctly introduces the conditional logic and hence CORRECT

C. should a significant number of these loans be repudiated, is
--> use of SHOULD to denote conditional is incorrect we need IF.

D. should a significant number of these loans be repudiated, are
E. should they repudiate a significant number of these loans, are

would go with B for the above reasoning.

OA is not B.

In "If - construction" "will" is used - then why "is" right here?

IMO D

the bankruptcy of some of the world's largest financial institutions are at stake should a significant number of these loans be repudiated. This is the intended meaning or rephrased structure.

Its either C or D. Not sure of the sv error here. I got confused with the usage of some of X as additive phrase.

yeah actually IF part with WILL is not among the parts mgmat mentions to be correct on GMAT--> MY FALSE I FORGOT THIS.

Then its C because we need singular for singular subject bankruptcy

Why A is wrong?
The correct answer is C.

A is incorrect because it uses an incorrect form of conditional tense. These are the three correct formats:if..Present...then ...will; if ..past...then...would; if...past perfect...then would have been....
But in the case of the statement in 'A', it puts if...present...then...would be. And this is incorrect!
B is incorrect because it uses 'will' in the 'if clause' and 'is' in the subordinate clause, while actually the reverse should be the case.

C is the correct answer.

D Incorrect because the noun 'bankruptcy of..' is singular and needs the singular verb 'is'.
E For similar reason.

We can drop D/E for SUBJECT VERB MISMATCH (the bankruptcy = SUBJECT; "of some of the world's largest financial institutions" = PREP PH ...and so not subject)

I vote for C

A. Incorrect conditional tense
D/E. Subject-Verb disagreement (bankruptcy/are)
B. 'will' in the 'if clause'
MBA is just one of the many ways to the destination.

but I can't understand the use of "should" here. Please clarify the use of "should"

Thank you.
