Again a sad end

Sorry guys i could manage to get only 660 ( q-50,v-28)

My first attempt was in Dec 2009 600 (q-45,v-27)

Quant was DITTO like gmat prep but verbal - i am still blank.

Don't worry dude. Come back stronger. Were you confident about verbal prep in practice tests?Did you write your exams with awa?

Nikhil,

Very sorry to see ur score.Just take a break and come back again.

Can you please elaborate ur verbal section like what difficulty u faced and what went wrong?It would be very kind if u provide suggestions for the verbal part to the future GMAT test takers.

Sorry to read about the bad day. Your practice scores look really good, and show that you are a 700+ student.
Did you get nervous while attempting Verbal? Or were the questions not consistent with the practice tests?

Being defeated is often only a temporary condition. Giving up is what makes it permanent.

I am shocked too but anyway 660 is good enough score to put you into the pool of applicants at top 25. If you are planning a final retake then its recommended to take a break and during that period you can do school research & prepare your essay.

Are you going for re-take ?

I am on a break !!

Thanks for your kind words buddy.
My average verbal score was 38 and lowest was 36.
I wrote my last 5 test with AWA.

Before my verbal section started i was aiming for 39-40. But inbetween my test ( during 20-25th question ). I was facing problem with CR.

Verbal section in actual test:

SC:
Actual gmat SC is exactly same as gmat prep SC.
3-2 splits were possible.
But in some questions, the remaining 2 option had different grammatical constructions and to get the correct answer we need to grasp the meaning of the sentence.
I felt modifier is test creator's favorite topic these days ( As in past it was parallelism )
One more thing, In gmat prep tests i cud solve sc in 1 min, but in actual test sc took 90-100 seconds

RC
I can say the type of content and construction of passages in actual exam are same ( as in OG), but not the type of questions.
I got six HIGHLIGHTED TEXT questions. In fact one whole passage was highlighted for straight 4 questions.
All the options contain in detail data.
Here I marked, instead of getting inference based questions, I got detail type questions. They were difficult to solve because of the content based options. Each option had new detail. It was difficult to verify each option.
trust me guys in science and history passages inference questions are easy to answer as compared to detail questions

CR
only one thing
NON-NATIVE SPEAKERS SOLVE AS MANY TOUGH CR QUESTIONS AS YOU CAN.
start reading novels.

Hi Nikhil, 660 is a good score but you have it in you to make a big difference next time. just keep going buddy..

One of my friend gave GMAT last week and i got the same report from him as far as CR is concerned.. He told me that close to 10 questions in CR were percentage/number based and words such as mean/median/mode were incorporated in the argument.. did u encountered any such question??

Hi Nikhil I am in the same delima as you are in.I am still confused. I had similar CAT scores as you did but in my 2nd attempt managed only 650(q49,v31).
