Let me give some background. I'm 30, just completed a masters in econ from a 2nd tier school, but I'm thinking ahead... either an emba or possibly business phd from a top school. I enjoyed my time doing research, but love my current position in PE. I'm almost indifferent between the two, almost. So I'm taking the GMAT to get a sense of where I'm at.
Started this week with the Kaplan GMAT Premier book and feel good so far. Assuming my quants are strong from months (maybe years? it's all a blur) of tedious econ maths, I'm starting in on my weaker verbal and pleasantly surprised; hitting 91% correct on Kaplan SC CAT and 82% CR CAT straight out of the gate. I think this translates to ~97th percentile, ~720 Kaplanworld territory. Some of the posts indicate Kaplan is tougher than the actual test so I hope with some work I can dial in the 750+ space.
Let me say that I'm glad this forum exists and I found it. I'm getting the sense that this test is beatable, but then again I haven’t had my spirits defeated yet. It's good to know others out there are focused and working at a high level toward the same goal of crushing this test!
