As a baby emerges from the darkness of the womb
with a rudimentary sense of vision, it would be rated
about 20/500, or legally blind if it were an adult with
such vision.

My answer was B..OA is D please explain

B describes the rating as being legally blind; this is not possible. The person with that rating would be blind.

"it" does not have a clear antecedent here
(B) A baby emerges from the darkness of the womb
with a rudimentary sense of vision that would be

This says that the rating will be considered legally blind, whereas it should convey that the baby will be considered legally blind
(C) As a baby emerges from the darkness of the
womb, its rudimentary sense of vision would be
rated about 20/500; qualifying it to be legally
blind if an adult.
The sentence after the semicolon cannot stand on its own, hence this option is also incorrect
(D) A baby emerges from the darkness of the womb
with a rudimentary sense of vision that would be
rated about 20/500; an adult with such vision
would be deemed legally blind.
Correct. No issue with the pronoun or the sentence after the semi colon
(E) As a baby emerges from the darkness of the
womb, its rudimentary sense of vision, which

Should be "which would be deemed legally ..."

Here, as an adult seems to refer to a sense of vision, implying that a SENSE OF VISION can function AS AN ADULT.

A semi-colon must serve to connect TWO COMPLETE CLAUSES, each with its own subject and verb.
In C, what follows the semi-colon is a modifier: qualifying it to be legally blind.
