Prompt: Manned space flight is costly and dangerous. Moreover, the recent success of a series of unmanned space probes and satellites has demonstrated that a great deal of useful information can be gathered without the costs and risks associated with sending men and women into space. Therefore, we should invest our resources in unmanned space flight.

Response

The argument that resources should be invested in unmanned space flight instead of manned space flight is not entirely logically convincing, because it ignores certain crucial assumptions. Not only it lacks substantial evidence to support the degree of cost and danger that manned space flight creates, but also it fails to provide further information on how useful the information gathered by the recent unmanned space probes and satellites was.

First, the argument assumes that manned space filght is costly and dangerous. It doesn't provide any substantial evidence to support its assumption. Evidence such as number of people got injured or killed when they were involved in manned space flight is indispensable. Moreover, cost estimate on both manned space flight and unmanned space flight is necessary to investigate the cost of each approach and prove that unmanned space flight less costly. By merely stating that manned space flight is costly does not conclude that unmanned space flight is preferable.

Second, the argument never addresses how useful the information gathered in the recent success of a series of unmanned space probes and satellites was. It is necessary to compare the both the quality and quantity of information gathered by unmanned space flight vesus manned space flight in order to conclude the above premise.

The arugment might have been strengthened by providing cost estimates on both the manned and unmanned space flight, and hence conclude the amount of cost saved by choosing the unmanned space flight approach. Moreover, providing number of people being injured or killed during the manned space flight process can substantiate how sunmanned space flight can prevent such tragedies to happen. Further, providing and contrasting the information gathered by both unmanned space flight and manned space flight may be able to prove that using the unmanned space flight approach, similar quality or quantity of information can be gathered like that obtained by the manned space flight approach.

In conclusion, the argument does not acknowledge the degree of cost and danger that manned space flight bring, and it fails to provide further information on the usefulness of information gathered by the recent unmanned space probes and satellites.
