Great question. Generally, folks with differentiated or aggressive work experience can generally get in with fewer years on their resume. Some careers are accelerated in that regard - e.g. banking, consulting, etc. Others, however, are fairly structured and rigid such as engineering and sometimes folks need to stay a few more years to get the experiences that get attention. 3 or 4 can definitely be enough but there is a reason average ages for most programs are in the later 20s such as 28. People just get more meaningful experiences then and even a year can make a big difference. Hope that helps!
