The average marks in a test in a class of 15 students was 74. If we take out two highest scores, the average goes down by 4. Find out the highest score in the classs( Total marks 100)?
A)100
B)86
C)94
D)90
E)70

910(13*70)

A is the highest possible

remember this formula = AVG * # of items = SUM of all the items.

so 74*15=1110

now if we take out 2 students the avg goes down by 4, so 70*13=910.

now 110-910 = 100.

and thats ur answer.

total sum of marks = 74*15 = 1110
total sum of marks after to max marks are taken out = 70 * 13 = 910

the difference between the two will give the sum of 2 max marks taken out = 1110 -910 = 200
as the max marks can only be 100

so A
