Aphysically active lifestyle has been shown to help increase longevity. In the Wistar region of Bellaria, the average age at death is considerably higher than in any other part of the country . Wistar is the only mountainous part of Bellaria. A mountainous terrain makes even such basic activities as walking relatively strenuous; it essentially imposes a physically
active lifestyle on people. Clearly, this circumstance explains the long lives of people in Wistar.

Which of the following, if true, most seriously weakens the argument?
(A) In Bellaria all medical expenses are paid bythe government, so that personal income does not affect the quality of
health care a person receives.
(B) The Wistar region is one of Bellaria's least populated regions.
(C) Many people who live in the Wistar region have movedthere in middle age or upon retirement.
(D) The many opportunities for hiking, skiing, and other outdoor activities that Wistar's mountains offer make it a favorite
destination for vacationing Bellarians.
(E) Per capita spending on recreational activities is no higher in Wistar than it is in other regions of Bellaria.

Will post the answer after Q & A and please explain the term in bold

This is a cause and effect argument.

Cause - An actively physical lifestyle
Effect - Average age at death is considerably higher than in any other part of the country - meaning proportionally a large number of older people die, thus making the average age at death higher.

One way to weaken this is to find whether there is any other cause to the effect. The answer is C. This shows that the active lifestyle is not responsible, but that the older population is being boosted by newcomers.

(B) The Wistar region is one of Bellaria's least populated regions. (Effect of population on the health is not mentioned , so again wrong.
(C) Many people who live in the Wistar region have movedthere in middle age or upon retirement.( This could really weaken the conclusion , as it can be argued that as number of newcomers older people is more so the average death age is on higher side in this part as compared to the other part and not as a result of physical activity)
(D) The many opportunities for hiking, skiing, and other outdoor activities that Wistar's mountains offer make it a favorite destination for vacationing Bellarians. (this options is irrelevant ,so wrong)
(E) Per capita spending on recreational activities is no higher in Wistar than it is in other regions of Bellaria. (per capita spending effect on the longevity cannot be made, so again wrong)

Answer is C, explantion explained above
