As did many other newer American cities, Atlanta doubled in size in only its first ten years of existence.

C) Like
D) Just like
E) As with

The correct answer is C

The correct usage of AS are
It should be followed by either a NOUN or with a CLAUSE.
So it should be AS many other newer American cities DID, Atlanta .....

On the other hand LIKE is clearly followed by a noun phrase, so the correct answer is C

Yes, I will go with C


Its comparsion of cities (nouns) and not clauses

Also, Just as..So is correct idiom

That eliminates D
