it should be A{1-(1/5+2/3)}=2A/15 if we assume no one wants to be both actor as well as director
Not sure whether we can assume this.If we can Ans is option A

E.13A/15

A/5 want to be actors. Of these 2/3 want to be directors = A/5 * 2/3 = 2A/15.
The way I interpret it, 2A/15 want to be both actor and director. So the number of people who do not want to be both actor & director = A - 2A/15 = 13A/15.
So IMO it's E.

Total = a.
Actors = a/5.
wanna be directors = (a/5) * 2/3 = a2/15.

Don't wanna be actors n directors = a- a/5 - a2/15 = a13/15.
So correct answer is
E

I agree with asamavrick.

Here are my steps:

first found the LCM of 3 and 5 = 15 = A

(1/5)*15 = 3 = # who want to be actors

(2/3)*3 = 2 want to be be both actors and directors

Number of applicants who don't want to be both = 15 - 2 = 13

plug 15 for A you get E
