As a second try, should i take the exam now or advance it?

Hi

I took the GMAT last year and totally BOMBED it. I scored a 580 and I dont remember the section scores. So this year I decided to be more focussed and give it another shot. After studying pretty consistently for since the beginning of August, I finally scheduled my exam for the 2nd of Oct.
My aim is to score 750 or above. However, at this point, I fall in the 680-720 category having taken MGMAT, 800Score and GMATPrep tests. Considering the fact that I have around 2 weeks left before the exam, I am wondering if I should advance the test to early november with the hope that more practice will sharpen my skills to an extent that a 750+ will seem more probable than now.

Having read a lot of the post on this forum, I am confused with whether I should go ahead and take a chance on the test on the planned date or advance the test dates to maybe help boost my chances a little. I am just worried that since it is my second attempt, if i fail to get the desired score, I may have to try again I am not sure how MBA schools view 3 attempts at the GMAT.

Advice anyone?

It looks like you are in range to get a very solid score based on the practice tests you mentioned. One question for you--why do you need to get a 750+? Are you depending on a great GMAT score to counterbalance a potentially weak area in your app, like GPA or work experience?

If you are fairly solid for the other areas of your app, then you are probably fine with the scores in your current range.

With regard to your multiple attempts for the GMAT--I wouldn't worry too much about it because most MBA programs will only consider your highest score.

The reason I want to get a really good GMAT score is because my GPA is comparatively low ~ 3.0(apparently you are supposed to study in college, not party). Combining that with the fact that I probably fall into a category of applicants that are over represented(and high GMAT scorers), I feel that getting a 750+ will be one of many factors that will help bolster my chances of getting admission into a top tier school.

I have issues with speed in math. No matter how much I practice, I end up short of time in quants. I guess my fundamentals aren't as strong as they should be.
