By the end of the year, a particular airline company had sold an average (arithmetic mean) of 2,600 tickets per day during the first 10 months of the year (January through October) and an average of 4,800 tickets per day during November and December. Which of the following is closest to the total number of tickets sold during the year?

Hi,

even if you don't want to spoil the correct answer, please always post the choices. On this particular question, seeing the range of answers (i.e. how spread out they are) would dictate how many calculations we need to make.

Let's assume an average of 30 days per month, to keep calculations simple.

For Jan-Oct: 2600*10*30 = 780000
For Nov-Dec: 4800*2*30 = 288000

Total: between 1.0 and 1.1 million
