5^2 + x^2 = root61^2

24 + x = 61

x = 36

sides of tri = 5,6

from that info we can derive the area as 21.

Hi,
Let the length of the base be x. Draw a horizontal line 1 unit above the base to form a right angled triangle.
Applying Pythagoras theorem, x^2 + 5^2 = 61 => x2 = 36. So, x= 6
Area of trapezium is (1/2)*6*(1+6) = 21 sq.units

I thought root 61 is the length of the base, not the hypotenuse?
