Because all the angles are equal, thee triangles are similar.

Now say height for triangle with base s = h
Height for triangle with base S = H

h/H = s/S ----- (1)

Given: Area(S)/Area(s) = 2/1
=> 2/1 = (1/2 SH)/(1/2 sh)
=> 2 = S^2/s^2 ------from (1)
=> (s^2) 2 = S^2

=> S = s {sqrt. (2)}
