Ok-

I applied round 2 to two schools, UNC and UVA. In my application, under the optional essay section, I wrote that I was studying diligently to take the GMAT for the second time in Jan. (which was true). I took the GMAT for the 2nd time and did worse (660 to 580). Should I email the adcom with a letter explaining my disappointment in my performance? Avoid the issue completely? I have not heard from either school with interview invites and I am wondering if I should email an update letter discussing my GMAT and also updating them on my work situation (I have been promoted and I am involved in a marketing project to sell a large portfolio of real estate). Any advice?

Thanks!

Dear Godawgs,

Keep all updates positive and to strengthen your candidacy. Since you did not increase your score, I would not email the schools regarding your new score. There is no reason to bring attention to it since your 660 is what will be used in your evaluation. If you want to send a note regarding your promotion and new responsibilities, then that is perfectly acceptable as that strengthens your candidacy.

Best of luck,
Lisa
