apostrophe - parallel structure

by confuse mind » Tue Sep 11, 2012 3:36 am
In some explanations, I found some folks opine that
Ram's watch is lighter than Shyam's
is wrong because Shyam's should not be left unqualified, even in parallel structure.

It does look correct to me because it is equivalent to
Ram's watch is lighter than Shyam's [watch]

Experts opinion please.
Thanks!
