I found this qn in the Manhattan material.... Unfortunately didnt have the answer... :(

Career switchers often schedule interviews with high-level managers, believing that the insight of the professionals will help narrow dosn many choices of careers availabel to greduating MBA's.

a) Same as above
B) Career Switchers, beliveing that the insight of professionals will help narrow down the many choices of careers avialable to graduating MBAs, often schedule interviews with high level managers
c) career switchers believind that scheduling interviews with the insight of high level prossional managers will help narrow down the many choices of careers availbale to graduating MBAS.
d)career switchers, believing that interviews with high level managers whose insight will help narrow down the many choices of careers available to hraduating MBAs, often schedule them
e) Career switchers often schedule intervies to narrow down the many choices of careers availableto graducating MBAs, believing that the insight of professionals with high level managers will help them

For me the answer looks like B. Pool in your answers for this along with reasons.

Thanks. [/u]

looks like B to me too.

A can possibly be interpreted as meaning to say that the high level managers believe the insight of the professionals.....

It cannot be A. Here's why

In A, "believing that...." is modifying "high-level managers". Grammatically its correct but have a look at what this sentence means.

Its actually the career switchers who believe that the insight of the professionals such as high-level managers will help them choose a better career. Its not high-level managers who believe that thing. And because career switchers believe that thing, they schedule interviews with high-level managers.

And since its the career switchers who believe that the insight of the professionals will help them. "believing that...." should modify career switchers, not high-level managers.

Hope that helps...

I believe E is wrong because it doesn't specify career switchers schedule interviews with whom. In a way, it changes the meaning of the original sentence because the original sentence clearly says that career switchers schedule interviews with high-level managers.

Thank you, Hardik

I would like to know your reasoning for option -D (though it is wrong option)

Good Point..

apart from that , it cud be argued that believing that the insight of professionals with high level managers will help them modify all graduating MBA whereas this is only Career Swithers , who want to schedule interview... not the all graduatingf MBA people

(Considering Carrer swithers are just a part of MBA's )

Brijesh,

D is wrong because of awkward and ambiguous "them".

In option D "often schedule them " is used. Here "Them" doesnt relate specifically to anything. it can be managers, meetings, careers..
So we cant choose D. its a case of misplaced modifier.
