Little confusing, took some time to arrive at the answer.

'As' is used to compare actions -> So in the sentence
As the histories of other civilizations were recorded ->The development of Inca civilization was recorded through ...

in such sentences its very important to understand the meaning of the sentences first, take a few secs and interpret what the sentence is trying to say.

only A and E come close to conveying the intended meaning of the sentence. 'A' loses the plot by conveying a meaning that as the other civilizations existed, in the same way the XYZ civilization was recorded.

However the correct meaning is - the XYY civilization was recorded via same means as other civilizations.
