The speaker asserts that all employees should help decide how the profits of their company or business should be used. I disagree with the speaker; the employees should not be responsible for deciding how the company or business profits should be used. In this discussion, I shall present my observations, examples to refute with the speaker.
First of all, the speaker fails to address the primary roles and responsibilities of the employees who should be help to decide the company or the business, on how the profits should be used. The speaker raises a valid point that here, but does not consider that what type of employees should be involved in the decisions regarding the profits. For example, it would be wise to assume that an employee of a software development company, who works as a programmer, may not be able to give valuable suggestions to the business on profits utilization. Whereas, a finance executive, may have some important ideas, which could really help the business to attain its goals.
Finally, the speaker gives a very broad statement about the business and attempts to correlate it with all the businesses. To make the statement more valid or doable, the speaker should have categorized the type of company or business that can be helped by the employees or even the size of the company. For example, IBM, one of the largest software giants in the world, has approximately 100,000 employees. It would be nearly impossible for the company to incorporate the decision of all the employees regarding the profits. As long as, the profits are utilized or invested in the right direction, the employees should not bother about them. Moreover, such businesses already employ highly skilled employees, who have the knowledge of investments that are to be made by the business. The speaker's assertion runs contrary to the common sense, as to why would any business be interested in taking ideas from the employees who are unskilled in the investments area.
In sum, I disagree with the speaker's point of view because the speaker fails to consider what type of businesses can be helped by the employees. The speaker's recommended approach would even be a reason for the failure of certain businesses.
