An estate of $216,000 is divided equally among p people who must each pay the lawyer d percent of their share. What is the value of d?

(1) p = 4
(2) The lawyer will receive $270 from each of the p people.

what we need here is the value of 'p' and the value of the total amount that was given to the lawyer to know the d value.

Statement 1: p = 4.
So share of each person = 21600/4 = $5400
but it doesn't give any more information on how much it gives to the lawyer
Hence insufficient.

Statement 2: each lawyer gets $270 from 'p' people
Again, doesn't provide any further information.
Hence insufficient.

Combining St1 and St2:
So share of each person = 21600/4 = $5400
Out of which $270 is given to each lawyer, so percentage given to lawyer = 270/5400 x 100 = 5%
Sufficient.

Hence, C.

Lawyer gets \(= d \cdot \dfrac{216000}{p} \quad (1)\)

\(p\) and \(d\) are unknown.

1. Give the value of \(P=4\). But \(d\) is unknown. Not Sufficient \(\Large{\color{red}\chi}\)

2. Gives the amount which the lawyer earns per person. But \(p\) is unknown thereby giving us less data to calculate the percentage. Not Sufficient \(\Large{\color{red}\chi}\)

Combining \(1 \& 2\) and inputting the values in the equation \((1)\)

\(270 = d \cdot \dfrac{216000}{4}\quad \Longrightarrow\quad d = 0.5\%\)

Therefore, C
