An artistic presence of the first order, one frequently ranked with that of Picasso, Stravinsky, and James Joyce, Martha Graham's (artistic presence) was acclaimed ... change the rest of the phrase to modify artistic presence and not Martha Graham.

This sentance is correct, so answer is A

An artistic presence of the first order, one frequently ranked with Picasso, Stravinsky, and James Joyce, Martha Graham was acclaimed as a great dancer long before her innovative masterworks made her the most honored of American choreographers.

(A) Martha Graham was acclaimed as
Correct

(B) Martha Graham was acclaimed to be
acclaimed to be is not as good as acclaimed as

(C) Martha Graham’s acclaim is as
(D) Martha Graham’s acclaim to be
(E) Martha Graham’s acclaim was in being
This sentence speaks about Martha Graham, not about Martha Graham’s acclaim, so C-D-E are out
