Am I over considering all possibilities?

Q. A set of numbers has the property that for any number t in the set, t+2 is in the set. If -1 is in the set, which of the following must also be in the set?

I. -3
II 1
III. 5

(A) I only (B) II only (c) I and II only (D) II and III only (E) I, II and III

Okay people just tell me why can't -3 be there? since -1 is present, it acts as t+2 for some t right? now this t comes out to be -3.

Good question. It says for any number t ,t+2 is in set. Now -1 is given in set so 1 & 5 are in set as you noted. Now the problem with -3 is that there is a possibility that the set STARTS from -1 and we are not given that for any number t , t-2 can be in set. So we have go forward from -1.

So, D
