Even though Clovis points, spear points with longitudinal grooves chipped onto their faces, have been found all over North America, they are named for the New Mexico site where they were first discovered in 1932.

A. Even though Clovis points, spear points with longitudinal grooves chipped onto their faces, have been found all over North America, they are named for the New Mexico site where they were first discovered in 1932.
B. Although named for the New Mexico site where first discovered in 1932, Clovis points are spear points of longitudinal grooves chipped onto their faces and have been found all over North America.
C. Named for the New Mexico site where they have been first discovered in 1932, Clovis points, spear points of longitudinal grooves chipped onto the faces, have been found all over North America.
D. Spear points with longitudinal grooves that are chipped onto the faces, Clovis points, even though named for the New Mexico site where first discovered in 1932, but were found all over North America.
E. While Clovis points are spear points whose faces have longitudinal grooves chipped into them, they have been found all over North America, and named for the New Mexico site where they have been first discovered in 1932.

Now in one of the posts in Manhattan I found this :
There's one major grammatical difference, though, which is this:
even though MUST be used with complete clauses.
although can be used with fragments.
example: james, although tired from working all day, went to the club with his friends. --> this sentence wouldn't work with "even though"

Keeping this in mind , how is answer A correct ?

Try to separate the info between commas in option A and Option B. You will get an idea. Please see this link for more information.

Ani, I am not sure of the rules corresponding to "although" and "even though"; i googled and found that:
--> Eventhough is used when some positive outcome occurs from a negative situation.
Even though Ram din't study for exam, he came first.

--> Although is used when some negative outcome occurs from a positive situation
Although Ram studied whole night for the exam, he failed.

Regarding this question, I solved this question keeping Although & Even though aside. This problem has more of meaning issue than any other..
the word "discovery" is always at a specific moment in past and not over a period of time..that means "have been discovered" is wrong.. Eliminate C, E
In Case B, the "where first" is missing subject.. so more desirable would have been "where they were first" Eliminate B
In Case D, same issue.. Eliminate D
Answer {A}

Hi ani781,

If an SC includes a bunch of commas, then the grammar will likely focus on either modification or parallelism rules.

In this case, we're dealing with modification and a bit of "style."

Several of the answer choices start with "contrast words", but I'll come back to THAT in a moment. Modification rules require that the modifying word/phrase be right next to what it's modifying. Here, we're dealing with a description of "Clovis points", so the descriptive/modifying phrase MUST be right next to "Clovis points."

Next, we need the implied contrast to make sense. In answer A, the contrast is that even though the points were found all over North America, they were named for the New Mexico site where they were first found. All of the wrong answer "add in" extra words that are stylistically incorrect.

B: "Clovis points ARE spear points"; "AND have been found"
C: Doesn't provide contrast
D: "BUT were found"
E: Contrasts "faces" with "North America"

Final Answer: A

You can't use Although with the fragments.....I am quite sure that Although has to be used with a complete sentence with subject and work....This is what I learned from one of the RON's tutorial....In his one of the tutorial he mentioned this that anything that follow the Although has to be a complete sentence. I would say double check the book what it says about although. Chapter 10 MGMAT book version 5 page 197....It says that Although can be used to introduce the subordinate clause....There is a difference between subordinate clause and fragment.

Now to your original problem.
B is wrong because of the reason I just mentioned above.
C is wrong because we need contrast in the sentence.
In D the subject doesn't have the verb at all.
In E the use of while is wrong and the sentence meaning is not clear.
A is the only answer that conveys the meaning and clarity.
