All the students of a class are to be divided into 20 individual study groups. What should be the minimum number of candidates present in the least populated group?

I. The total number of students in the class is 238.
II. Any group cannot have more than 20% of the number of students of any other group.

Needless to state that each statement alone is insufficient. Let's go with both the statements together.

Say the minimum number of candidates present in the least populated group is x; thus, none of the 19 groups can have more than 120% of x = 1.2x candidates.

Since we want the minimum value, let there be only group that has least no. of candidates x and each of the 19 groups has maximum no. of candidates 1.2x.

Thus, x + 19*1.2x = 238 => x = 10. Sufficient.

The correct answer: C

Hope this helps!
