6 pints of a 20 percent solution of alcohol in water are mixed with 4 pints of a 10 percent alcohol in water solution. The percentage alcohol in the new solution is
A. 16
B. 15
C. 14
D. 13
E. 12

Soln 1

A:W=20:80

6 pints =120:480

Soln 2

A:W=10:90

4 pints =40:360

Soln1 and Soln2

A:W=160:840=4:21

% of Alcohol=4/25*100=16

16%
