(g1+3+g2+3)-(b1+3) this equation has to be made opposite..question asks about diff b/w age of boy and combined age of girls..
so equation should be (b1+3) - (g1+3+g2+3)=-2
I think i am hurrying towards solving questions rather than reading questions and understand what actually is asked for...

I did the same say and got -2 but then i thought how can the age be -ve.
That's why i put the question in this forum from discussion.
But i want to ask is
Can the difference in age be -ve
As per my knowledge- age is always positive.
But i am not sure about the difference in age

I also got 2 as the answer and was surprised to learn that the correct answer is not 2 but -2.
The questions states in a very subtle manner - "difference between age of boy and combined age of girls". Typically, we would assume that age cannot be negative and so for finding out the difference, either way you could get the answer.
Had it been actual exam question, i would have definitely clicked on 2 and move on to the next question.
Would like to get an expert reply on this.
