Source: — Sentence Correction |

In this question, after the death of Alexander's father, he began to invade neighboring regions which led to spreading to other land.

Option A Incorrect
Explanation - the comma before the prepositional phrase is not necessary. The sentence seem ambiguous and awkward. Is Alexander invading the lands to be influenced or to influenced other land.

Option B Incorrect
Explanation - it changes the meaning of the sentence. It makes it seem like Alexander was trying to be influenced by Greek culture.

Option C correct
Explanation - It is correct because it uses the correct modifier 'spreading ' to modify the preceding clause 'to invade' to explain the sentence.

Option D Incorrect
Explanation - The sentence feels illogical when studied. If we remove 'by invading nearby region'
from this sentence, it doesn't make much sense.

Option E Incorrect
Explanation- Incorrect usage of 'would' and 'begin' for an action that happened in the past. 'Would' is used for the future reference while 'begin' is in the present tense
