Whether your books are sufficient for your desired score is, of course, quite dependent on your current score. If you score a 690 on a practice test with no prep, the road to a 720 will be a lot easier than if you scored a 400! Personally, I studied exclusively from the OG and did just fine - but your results may vary.

Also, remember that you don't need to finish the OG in one month. The OG goes in order of difficulty, so don't go into the hard stuff until you've mastered the easier material. There is no point in knowing all the material halfway - it's much, much better to have a firm command of half the material - to know it cold.

I cant agree more than the experts. Starting your preps without taking a diagnostic practice test would be like treasure hunting but not knowing where to look.

There are many prep companies offering one free GMAT practice test. Or you could take one GMATPrep test and see where you stand. If your quant score is in the range of 45 and your verbal in the range of 35 there you are a good test taker and hence your preparation should be more inclined to improving your level of ability. If you score low on either of the sections then your preparation should be weighted more on your weakest link.

BTW finishing OG should not be your task. Your task should be to maximize the take away from the book, i.e., even if you finish only one half of the book make sure that you have nailed all the concepts that were tested and master those questions not merely by knowing the answers but also by knowing the explanation to them.

Writing down this reply i am not in a very good mood
And obvious reason for this is my first GMATPrep diagonostic test score which i gave today.I took this test without any prepration so consider this as my current ability after 2 years of break from studies.

The scores are:
Quants:32
Verbal:13
Total:390

There are certain shortcomings which i found myself and want to improve it asap.
1) I missed to finish my both sections and was short of 4-5 questions in verbal and 3 questions in Quants(this hurt my quant score)
2) My Verbal is way too poor and needs urgent attention.
3) During test i always get puzzled after seeing the remaining time and this evantually affect my overall scores.

Obviously this is not a good score to start of with but i dont want to giveup and do want to fight in the ring.

After this i have a rough plan for next few weeks before the second preptest:
1) A thorough effort to OG11(SC,RC,CR,DS and PS)
2) MGMAT for SC and CR

I need more advice from you guys about how i can improve my plan to reach to a level of atleast 85 percentile by next preptest and finally to my target GMAT score.(Which is still 720)

Give your inputs about how my actionplan from now on should be with some clear directions about how to approach the testplan.
