Advice for Experienced Hire

by saadat » Sun Dec 30, 2012 4:33 am
Hi,

I am currently an experienced Manager working for a Technology Consulting Firm. I have over 6 years consultancy experience.
I am looking at finding out whether an MBA would be beneficial at this stage of my career would be advisable as I am looking to apply for positions within strategy consulting firms.
My undergraduate degree was not from a top 10 university and would not have met the entry requirements for graduate entry positions.
I am wondering whether this could be counted against me, and therfore am looking at gaining an MBA from a top B-School.

Any advice would be recommended.

Currently work at Accenture in the uk aligned to the IT strategy function. I graduated in 2001 with a lower second class honours from Kingston University. I would have to look at the top b-schools in the UK with a preference on those that offered part time MBAs (due to work commitments).
Short term goals would be to position myself for an experienced position (manager above)within a strategy firm. Long term to become director/ start up own business.
