Adoption trouble

Ms S, an adoptive mother, recently read an article about a birth father who is suing the adoptive parents for custody of his child, who had been offered up for adoption without the father's permission. Ms S adopted her child several years later through the same agency, but she should not be worried that her child's birth father will sue her for custody.

which of the following, if discovered to be true, would lend the most support to the conclusion above?

A) The birth mother of Ms S child never informed the birth father that she was pregnant, so the birth father does not know of the child's existence.

B) In the last twenty years in the state in which Ms S lives, adoptive parents have won 90 percent of the cases in which birth parents have sued for custody of an adopted child.

C) The adoption in the article was completed two months before a policy was instituted by the agency requiring the signatures of both birth parents on the paperwork releasing the child for adoption.

D) The birth father in the case described in the article was over the age of 18 at the time the adoption was completed.

E) Ms S adopted one child through the agency mentioned in the article and another child through a lawyer specializing in adoptions.

OA is C, but my question is, if A is true, then how come the birth father sue Ms S??

A. the fact that the birth father doesn't know about the existence of the child NOW doesn't mean that he won't find out in the future and sue Ms. S. If he does, then there's a chance that he'll want custody of the child.

B. The conclusion is about the actual legal action: her child's birth father will sue her for custody. It's not about who wins or loses, it's about the lawsuit in itself.

C. is correct, since it means that, since Ms. S adopted her child a few years later, the policy was indeed respected. The father must have consented to the adoption, so the child was adopted with the father's permission.

D and E are both incorrect because neither age nor other forms of adoption have anything to do with the passage.

basically A goes out of scope....

C sticks withing the limit of the argument.

E) Ms S adopted one child through the agency mentioned in the article and another child through a lawyer specializing in adoptions.
situation:
1. article is about birth father who sued adoptive parents over custody of child who had been offered up for adoption without his permission.
2. ms s. adopted child through same agency, but should not be afraid of being sued by birth father of child.

A. keep
B. keep
C. keep
D. not relevant
E. does not negate the possibility that the father of the child she adopted through the agency will sue.

C implies that the birth father would have granted permission for the adoption, hence eliminating the possibility of a scenario as stated in the article. With A, the father could still have found out through other means. the probability of being sued, and not that of winning the lawsuit if sued is the relevant issue, eliminating B. C is the most foolproof since the father actually say yes to start with, so he doesn't really have a case anymore.

A) The birth mother of Ms S child never informed the birth father that she was pregnant, so the birth father does not know of the child's existence.-->child's birth mother never informs does not mean the father will never know of the existence of his son till the end of his life. There are still unpredictable possibilities that the father will discover the truth

B) In the last twenty years in the state in which Ms S lives, adoptive parents have won 90 percent of the cases in which birth parents have sued for custody of an adopted child -->no influence

C) The adoption in the article was completed two months before a policy was instituted by the agency requiring the signatures of both birth parents on the paperwork releasing the child for adoption -->the best. The adoption mother adopts her child several years later than the year in which the policy was instituted, so she will be completely protected by laws

D) The birth father in the case described in the article was over the age of 18 at the time the adoption was completed -->over or under 18 is irrelevant

E) Ms S adopted one child through the agency mentioned in the article and another child through a lawyer specializing in adoptions. -->no influence
