What period were you unemployed? If it was during the initial phase of your career, you do not really have an issue, provided you explain the reason in the optional essay.

no I didn't have 2 yrs gap in initial time. But for 2013 Jan - present. This is bcos in Kolkata jobs for economist are nil and I came from Mumbai ( icici economist) in 2010 , worked for 2 yrs n became unemployed.my father carries tension if I go out of kol.but I have written 2 books ebooks basically one on corporate sector eco n other on all possible calculations that can be done mentally easily n quickly. These have been published on internet by Smashwords. If u type my name abhishek sikdar alingwith smashwords ull get them.
but tomorrow I'm going to apply for the job of freelance journalist on internet n start wrkng fr home. So now tell me whether I will get into iimc

You wrote two books in this time period, so technically, you were working. Your profile will certainly catch the admissions committee's attention. About recommendations- if you can get one from Smashwords and one from your previous employer, you'll have everything covered. Good Luck and God Bless!
