Accepted to USC PM

by rchang0101 » Fri May 13, 2011 1:51 pm
Hey everyone,

Just got the call yesterday. Didn't have to interview (which was great!). I was supposed to interview with UCI next week, but I think I might cancel it. Still waiting on UCLA, but I wasn't able to make it to the interview sessions, so I'm probably heading to USC this Fall.

GMAT: 640, 3.5
Undergrad: 2.33
- 9 yrs of work experience. Mainly from Internal Audit & special projects. Started a small online business on the side.
- 3rd person from my family to attend USC.

I got some great help here, just wanted thank everyone.

Hi! I'm about to submit my USC PM application (due in 1 week) and was wondering if you would be so kind to give me some tips!! Any info would be a great help. I'm 25, 5 yrs of work experience, 3.2 GPA, GMAT 610 and have no ties to USC. Is there anything you would suggest? THANK YOU in advance for any help you have.

Hi Michelle,

I can tell you what I did, but I'm not sure if it'll work for everyone.

1) If you haven't already, post up your profile and ask for some guidance. I think that always helps.

2) Since my stats weren't that strong (GPA & GMAT score), I chose to apply at a later round. I didn't want to compete with all the over achievers. Also, from monitoring the GMAT forums, I found some people with similar scores that were cut or put on the waiting list in the earlier rounds.

3) What I also found extremely helpful were the essay review services. I completely underestimated the time needed to work on my essays. I gave myself 3 weeks, but it took me almost 4-5 weeks to finalize them. Due to my low GPA, I felt like I really needed to shine here.

Hope this helps!
