i believe the answer is D...from the statement, we can infer that both ZY and XY are negative. Since Z is less than X, this means that Y is positive...which is what statement 2 says. So now it is either D or E. Plug in values and you will see they are equal. Ex. Z=-10, X=-3

abs(-3--10)+abs(-3)=

10=(abs(-10))=10
