About GMAT Prep

by silverlineinsky » Mon Nov 01, 2010 8:25 am
Hello friends,

I am taking GMAT in first week of december, i have started taking gmat Manhattan Mock tests and finding them very nice but i have a query.

i have a collection of 4-5 gmat preps (from 2006 - 2010)
do u think it is a better idea to practice from these tests...also do u think it will have almost different questions in all gmat preps or it will have an almost same question bank....

regards

When you say you have GMAT preps do you mean you have the GMATPREP test software from MBA.com? If so, I'd say they're the most accurate tests that you can find. From what I've seen most students get about the same score on the real test and the GMATPREP test (+ or - about 20 points). However, the tests have completely different question banks.

The GMATPrep tests have a large question bank built into them so you can actually take each test twice and only get about 10 or 15% overlap. There are also two versions of the GMAT prep software - one from 2005 and one from 2006.

PowerPrep is good too, but there are two versions of GMAT prep. I'm not sure it's worth your time to search for the older one, but if you want it I'm afraid you going to have to get it at some other website.

Are these older GMAT prep tests just as reliable as the most current ones?

I haven't carried out any analysis between the two tests personally, but I read that they did a little tweaking of how the tests tallies the final score. They may have also added questions, but I'm not sure. In any case, the new version has over a 1000 questions in it so you can take both exams twice and have pretty accurate results.
