Image a triangle ABC with a point D on side AC, is triangle ABC isosceles?

(1) The area of triangular ABD is equal to the area of triangle region DBC
(2) BD is perpendicular to AC and AD = DC

According to properties of triangles: "If the perpendicular from one vertex bisects the opposite side, the triangle is isoceles."

Stmt1: The area of 2 sub-triangles could be equal even if the triangle ABC is scalene, isoceles or equilateral. Insufficient.
Stmt2 states this property and hence is sufficient. Answer B.

Is this from GMAT+ (GMATPlus), or am I misunderstanding the reference? When it was in operation, GMATPlus published live GMAT questions, and GMAC successfully won a lawsuit against them a few years ago; GMATPlus materials should not be consulted.
