Hi alanforde800Maximux,

We're told that a T-shirt supplier charges $12 per T-shirt for the FIRST 50 T-shirts in an order and then $10 per T-shirt for each additional T-shirt in the order and the total charge for an order of T-shirts was $1500. We're asked for the total number of T-shirts in the order.

The first 50 T-shirts cost (50)($12) = $600, so the remaining $1500 - $600 = $900 of the order were filled with $10 T-shirts. This means that $900/$10 = 90 additional shirts were sold, in addition to the initial 50 shirts. 90 + 50 = 140 T-shirts.

Final Answer: C

We can let n = the total number of shirts and create the equation:

1500 = 12(50) + 10(n - 50)

1500 = 600 + 10n - 500

1400 = 10n

140 = n

Answer: C
