This definitely looks a weird question, but still Op C seems the best. See, this question seems tough because the comparison indicators looks really weird. initially i thought that the best way to write this sentence is

A study on couples' retirement transitions found that women who took new jobs after retiring from their primary careers reported high marital satisfaction than those who retired completely.

but unfortunately there is no such answer choice. In Op C, if u notice "SO" it describes this part "reported high marital satisfaction"......if u think in that way Op C seems correct.
