A man walks at a rate of 10 mph. After every 10 miles, he rests for 6 minutes. How much time does he take to walk 50 miles?

A. 300
B. 318
C. 322
D. 324
E. 330

The OA is D.

I don't have clear this PS question, I appreciate if any expert explain it for me because if he rests for 6 minutes every 10 miles, he should stop to rest 4 times, that's mean 24 minutes, then

For each 10 miles, his time is, (60+6)=66 minutes but for the last 10 miles (40 to 50) will be 60 minutes, finally the total time will be,

66(10 miles)+66(20 miles)+66(30 miles)+66(40 miles)+60(50 miles)=324.

Is it correct my solution? Thank you so much.

As Brent noted, your approach is perfectly valid. Alternatively, you could think about it like this

If you're walking at 10mph, it'll take you 5 hours to go 50 miles without stopping. 5 hours =5*60 = 300 minutes.
If you stop every 10 miles, you'll stop 4 times. At 6 minutes of resting per stop, you'll rest a total of 4*6 = 24 minutes.
Total time = 300 + 24 =324. The answer is D

Since his rate is 10 mph, it takes him 50/10 = 5 hours, or 300 minutes, to walk 50 miles if there are no breaks. However, since he takes 4 breaks (note that he will not take a break after walking the 5th and final 10-mile distance), he takes a total of 6 x 4 = 24 minutes in breaks, and thus his total time to walk 50 miles is 300 + 24 = 324 minutes.

Answer: D
