A controversial study suggests that the violent behavior displayed by some teenagers who play several hours of video games a day is due to developmental damage to the frontal lobe region of the brain rather than the absorption of any specifically violent content.

* is due to developmental damage to the frontal lobe region of the brain
* are due to developmental damage to the frontal lobe region of the brain
* is due to damage to the developmental frontal lobe region of the brain
* are due to developmental damages to the brain’s frontal lobe
* is due to developmental damages to the brain’s frontal lobe region

OA is A

"violent behavior" is the subject of the sentence & it is singular. So, B & D are out.

C - Changes the meaning. The frontal lobe is described as developmental. Incorrect.
E - The plural "damages" does not match the singular context.

A) is due to developmental damage to the frontal lobe region of the brain - IMO, this is it
B) are due to developmental damage to the frontal lobe region of the brain - nope, because violent behavior are is wrong
C) is due to damage to the developmental frontal lobe region of the brain - as Vemuri said, it changes the meaning
D) are due to developmental damages to the brain's frontal lobe - again, are is incorrect
E) is due to developmental damages to the brain's frontal lobe region - damages? really?

I initially chose E, but upon seeing the correct answer, I realized why it was A before looking at the explanations... very dumb mistake on my part :-(
