A box contains some pens, which are either fountain pens or ball pens. Each pen is also either blue or black in color. A pen is randomly selected from the box. Is the probability that the selected pen will be a blue color fountain pen more than 0.75?

1) Out of total 60 pens, 35 are fountain pens
2) Out of total 60 pens, 50 are blue in color

For the probability of the selected pen to be a blue color fountain pen greater than 0.75, blue color fountain pen must be greater than 75% of the total.

Let's take each statement one by one.

1) Out of total 60 pens, 35 are fountain pens.

For the answer to be yes, there must be greater than 75% of 60 = 45 blue color fountain pens; however, we see that there are only 35 (< 45) fountain pens. The answer is no. Sufficient.

2) Out of total 60 pens, 50 are blue in color.

Since we do not know how many of them are fountain pens, we cannot conclude. Insufficient.

Correct answer: A
