800 Score Practice Tests

I completed a verbal practice test of 800 score. I answered 30 questions correctly out of 41. But my sectional score was also 30.

Is the calculation method of 800 score close to GMAT Prep?

I was getting around 7 wrong out of 41 on the GMATPrep and getting 41 or 42 (perfect score is 51). I guess your score to be around 36.

So that means, 800 score can used as a tool just for practicing timing. Its better to rely on GMAT prep.

IMHO, 800score tests are not worth your time. They're really not even adaptive, they just have the fixed set of questions, I think... Besides, the problems they present are not GMAT-styled by a long shot...

I am studying verbal from OG 10,11 and GPREP. I am hesitating to touch other material. Should that be good enough?

You could also try the PowerScore CR Bible - I personally found that it was the only book that really nailed the GMAT style in questions. It also provided some very neat tips and strategies not only for CR, but also RC. As a matter of fact, PowerScore is highly respected for their LSAT material - and the LSAT does brush with the verbal part of the GMAT to some extent (but LSAT questions tend to be more difficult). I haven't had the chance to check out their other guides though - the SC one and the general verbal one...

Many people on this forum also recommend MGMAT, particularly their SC guide. If that's your weakness, maybe you want to buy that book as well. I understand it also comes with access to their 5 or 6 tests (I'm not sure exactly how many), so most people would say it's good value for your money.

I couldn't get past the OG 11. Manhattan SC is awesome. And Powerscore CR is good too. But powerscore CR is too many tips to memorize. I am going to use that book just to develop an intuition to identify question types rather than memorize them. I have to applaud some of the guys here who manage to do the OG series, then switch to Kaplan books and PR and ... I ran out of gas reading just one book.
200 or 800. It don't matter no more.
