Congratulations!!

Were the Quant questions comparable to the ones in OG?

Thanks a lot.

To answer your question the OG questions are relatively easier if you ask me....maybe only the last 40-50 are slightly difficult specially for PS....so i wud definitely recommend some extra prep if you want a 50-51 on Quant.....maybe Manhattan

cheers!

Hi,
Congrats on such an incredible score.
I was wondering how close are the passages on the GMAT as compared to those in RC99 . I am a little nervous because my accuracy level on the high difficulty level passages on RC99 is fluctuating quite a lot.

I found the passages on RC99 to be pretty close to those on the actual test, specially in terms of question type.....RC scores generally tend to fluctuate a lot depending on your comfort level with different subject areas

Ya, I know. I generally face difficulty in biological sciences passages. Though most of the questions in these passages are factual, yet the very task of understanding the entire passage seems quite arduous.

An important tip in RC is to take one or two small breaks while reading the passage because the human mind is such that we tend to lose concentration after sometime,so the breaks enable our minds to focus fully. These breaks are especially important when you are having difficulty comprehending a passage as you may not be comfortable with that topic .

Hi rishi,

congratulations on the great score!

Im retaking the gmat end of this month. My previous attempt was a 650 and im aiming for 700+ on this retake.

My weakness is data sufficiency and i found the actual gmat questions to be much harder than the ones in the OG and in kaplan advanced. Did u use any other prep materials for the quant section?

I just got the SC grail and the RC99. Ure right, they're great stuff! Much more concise and easy to digest than manhattan's SC guide. I found the manhattan guide to be extensive but also a bit too much info (info overload), esp on their idiom list.

Thanks,
C

Thanks,Cherie .
Ya, I agree both the SC Grail and RC99 are pretty good books. I can't suggest any material for Quant as I didn't prepare much on the Quant section as I was quite good at it. You may try the Quant books by MGMAT. I have heard that they're quite helpful.

Well, I now realize that writing essays is even a bigger pain than preparing for the GMAT. And that too when you have so many essays to write. How about you ? You're 10 points advantage over me :-P

Hey Rishi, thank you for your debrief.

I am trying the RC99 and feeling it's quite difficult to digest. I got only 33% percent correct of each passages. How about yours?

Any advices when doing RC99

Hey bvn,
Sorry for replying late. Didn't notice that you had posted a question in this thread.
As RC99 is divided into three difficulty levels ,moving from lower to higher difficulty passages, your accuracy is bound to come down.
In which difficulty level did you get 33% questions correct ?
I think how RC99 will help you is that it'll expose you to all the bland RCs you might encounter on the GMAT.
Make sure that you go through the explanations properly and try to (intro)retrospect after you are done with the entire passage and questions that why difficulty did you face in the passage, why did you get the questions wrong. Use the passage map given in the explanation and try to match your understanding of the passage with this passage. The closer your understanding of the passage with the passage map, the better you'll become.

For strategies, I will suggest you to go through the RC thread of BTG RC Forum.

Thank you very much Rishi

I got 33% in all 3 level of difficulty.

Thank you for your advice, I will review thoroughly as you advised. It seems I did not pay enough attention the map.

Did you set time for each passage? I set 2 minutes for each question, and always do not have enough time to answer all 3 question following a passage.
