740 GMAT, 2.83 GPA (Please help me)

by korkun » Thu Jan 01, 2009 12:12 pm
Hi all,

I graduated from the best business school of Turkey. I had full scholarship there. My CGPA is 2.83. Though, my last 2 terms' gpas are 3.12 and 3.20.
I recently got 740 from gmat. (50 q, 40v, 5awa).

Now, I have a scholarship from Turkish Petroleum Corporation to have an MBA with Marketing major in USA. When I return, we will market Iraq petroleum to Europe on Turkey.

Also, I have no full-time work experience yet.

I want to apply to Stanford, Wharton, Berkeley, Cornell and Texas at Austin for fall 2009.

What are my chances? I'd be glad to hear your opinions about my profile.

ps: If I'm not accepted to these schools, I may retake GMAT. Would a score of 800 be any different than 740?

Hi again,

I'm not asking these questions to only the consultants. Readers are also welcome to make any comments. These comments are very valuable to me.

740 is a great score...I would think most people on this forum would agree that retaking the GMAT is definitely not the answer. If you have a lower GPA you should try to make sure the other aspects of your application are top notch...

Retaking the GMAT might actually send a negative message to the schools, besides an 800 would require perfection
