I had read about the trap many times; do not try and figure out how you're doing on quant by how hard you percieve the questions. I knew it and had vowed to not allow myself to get excited or depressed after the Q section.

But I still did.

Some questions seemed hard, but the majority seemed easier than the ones I had studied. Near the end some seemed to be too easy. I knew I hadn't done too well on the Q. But, I didn't let it get to me.

Verbal was different. I blew through the first 25 questions knowing I was doing well. Then they got really tough, but I had plenty of time to spend 3-5 minutes on some questions.

I hit question 41 and my heart started beating faster. I went through all of the post questions before I got to the dreaded "Do you want to report your scores?" question. I knew the answer, but still, I sat there for a minute. I thought about how I was going to deal with my low score. My heart raced. I knew it was below 700; just not sure how far.

I hit next and didn't breath while the computer tabulated. Then I saw it: 740, 97th percentile. I rubbed my eyes and refocused. Still the same. Looked at the other scores and made sure I was reading the numbers in order. Yep, 740. Holy Crap is what I thought. Shock is what I felt. I hit next and was afraid to press finish exam, so I waited for the administrator to come in before I touched anything in fear that my score would be lost. But, I was done and I could finally post in the I beat the GMAT section.
