Although I took GMATa week back, but this is definitely my final attempt. With a 730, I am not retaking this again.
My story:
I have been a lurker on these forums for a long time, but I have taken a lot of courage from the stories on these forums. I finished first time with a 660 and then second time had only a marginal improvement to 670. This time I knew that I had to do it or else I had no chance at top schools.
I would like to mention the things in my experience which helped me. Maybe they will also help others:
1. Dont take a reattempt unless you have had time to study for it. In my case, I took the GMAT in the middle of a lot of job pressure. I had very little time left to devote to GMAT, and only took some leave in the last 2-3 days. This is not enough, and my second attempt did not help me at all.
2. For third attempt, I first started with tests but soon realized that I need to also improve my concepts. There is no point doing more and more questions unless you are able to confidently all types of questions first. For my prep, I used Manhattan SC and CR and properly went through concepts before attempting questions. For Maths, I am engineer so did not need to do too much more.
3. Many people say that AWA and IR are not important, but I made sure that I prepared them well also. Confidence in the beginning of the test is important. My typing speed is anyway good as I work for an IT company.
Hope these tips will help others also as they helped me. I am now in the application stage of the admissions process so will be looking more at that now. If I can help to answer the queries or questions of anyone taking GMAT, I will be very happy to do that.
