Indian / Male
GMAT: 680 (last year), 690, 700 (Q48, V38) overall 90th percentile with 83 in both quant and verbal
Undergrad: 3.9/4, engineering from a top indian school
Grad: MS, 4.0 from a top 3 US school
Experience: 4+ years. 3 years in a top 3 consulting firm in US, followed by 1+ year in a corporate strategy position in Industry. Strong leadership experience -- impact at CXO / VP level at both consulting and industry.
LORs: very strong
Extracurricular / Community: nothing spectacular but active participation in undergrad and grad. Currently teaching ESL to immigrants
Do I stand a chance at a top 5 school?
While I understand my GMAT is a weak point on my application, I don't want to give up on my dream because of that. I would've taken GMAT a few more time, if need be, to get a score around 740 but everyone says more than 3 times is not recommended.
I feel so powerless that my GMAT score could result in a failure to get in to a top school.
My plan is to apply to 6 schools in top 10 this year. If I don't get in then I'd continue to build my profile with additional community work and stronger leadership experience... and apply again next year. Maybe I'll take GMAT one more time next year and try to cross 720 barrier.
I am also wondering if an investment in an admission consultant would make a difference enough to get me in to a top 5 school. Does Stacy Blackman offer any webinars on the services offered?
