I finished writing my GMAT exam less than an hour ago and I feel fantastic. A score equal to or greater than 700 was my target and I barely achieved it.
I'm very grateful I found this forum to help me when I started studying one month ago. It helped me understand what resources were useful and which were not. I also slowly mustered up the courage to tackle something I did not look forward to studying: the verbal section.
In regards to the month I spent studying, everyone is different. I am fortunate enough to speak English as a first language and to have studied statistics as an undergraduate, so I felt confident before improving the verbal component of my score.
Resources Used
Quantitative
There are lots of contributors to the math forum that make it better. By contributor I mean someone who not only creates topics with problems, but also attempts to solve them. Even if the attempted solution is incorrect, it helps generate discussion which is what the forum needs. Since I felt confident about math, I spent a lot of time reading sanju09's posts because I find them the most difficult problems in the forums.
Verbal

Books
- The Official Guide for GMAT Review, 12th Edition
Get your hands on this, whether you have to buy it or can borrow it from the library.
- Barron's Pas Key to the GMAT is GARBAGE. I don't feel bad saying this because I am merely a student but there are tons of terribly phrased questions. It has cost me and some fellow members here lots of time.
Online Exams

Possible Shortcomings for Members
Learn to time yourself for both quantitative and verbal questions. A lot of us can solve quantitative questions given sufficient time, but it should take less than 2 minutes on the actual exam. Be aware of this. The same is true for verbal questions as well.
