Hi!

On day 6 it told me I should introduce myself. Well this is me introducing myself. I have already gone through most of the MGMAT Quant Material. Honestly for the most part I am skimming the material for quant, doing the problems at the end of the chapters, then doing all of the practice questions to include the GMAT Quant Review. Let me know if this not a good idea. I am going to have a rough couple of weeks when it comes to Verbal though.

I am at 650 (49Q, 33V) score level according to the Veritas Prep CATs, and some MGMAT CATs, but I've been stuck at this level for a while. I think the Veritas Prep Quant portion is much easier than most of the problems Ive been doing in the Official Guides. I can't say the same for verbal. I took the 1st gmatprep exam in early August, and scored a 400 (didn't finish), so I guess I'm slowly making progress. My actual GMAT is on March 16. I am hoping to join the 700+ club.

Does anyone have any piece of advice for me while I prepare? Also, is it not recommended to do the 60day guide as well as the Veritas Prep Online Class? I have already enrolled to be in the class In January, but I want to keep both up to maximize my practice and knowledge content.

Nice work Gordon - you've already made a lot of progress from your 400 score in August!
I think it's totally fine to skim through some of the concepts you know (as long as you still answer the practice questions and carefully review the solutions to those you missed).

It's also fine that you're taking an online course at the same time. You can't have too much information

I was also wondering in the meantime, how I should improve verbal. I already read through the MGMAT SC book and the Powerscore Critical Reasoning book. I honestly haven't done much practice on verbal other than using the forum to practice and reading the comments. I have also started watching "Thursdays With Ron" Videos about sentence correction. I am shooting for a 40+ verbal raw score.

I feel like my verbal studies are erratic and unreliable. I will continue to follow the 60 day study guide, but do you recommend I do other things during that time too? Should I focus all of my efforts on a specific concept?

Knowing the rules/concepts is part I of your studies.
Part II is all about the application of part I. Part II will take much longer to master. So, keep practicing and assessing areas where you're still having difficulties.

I think you're on the right track.

Brent,

Quick question about the study guide. I noticed I am having a harder time finishing the entire lesson. I had to take a several days off (coming back from Afghanistan) from the 60 day study guide and now I am 7 days behind. Is there time later to do the additional reinforcement problems later? I'm desperately trying to get back on track but with the Veritas Prep Online Course and this study guide it is a little overwhelming. Thoughts?

Day 42 is the last day that you learn new content, and the remaining days are devoted to taking practice tests and working on weaknesses. So, you can always catch up then.

Hi,

So I just took the GMAT Prep software practice test and received a very disappointing 610 (47Q, 27V) I think it has to do with mostly studying quant for the past couple of months without brushing up on some verbal skills. Today I also took the full length of the test to simulate test conditions. (Essay, and IR sections). It is a very disappointing verbal score (I have been scoring 650s consistently on different practice tests). I get a little confused when reading. I feel like I have to read the passages on RC and CR twice just to get the point. Then I tend to rush because I get frustrated. Worst of all, I clicked "end test" and I couldn't really review any of the test anymore. Any advice? I am still doing the 60 day guide as well as the veritas prep online class. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, I booked my test for March 16.

Is this due to concentration problems? A lack of concentration can cause students to "zone out" while reading lengthy passages, and these students can waste a lot of time rereading the same passage.

Unfortunately, there's a bug with the latest version of the GMATPrep software. Once you close the test, you can't go back to review questions. More here: https://www.beatthegmat.com/how-do-i-rev ... 24997.html
